PRE-LICENSURE SUPPORT STIPEND
The Coalition of Black Social Workers (CBSW) offers an annual Pre-Licensure Support Stipend to assist CBSW members who are pursuing social work licensure and need financial support to prepare for the examination process.

Stipend funds may be used for licensure preparation expenses, including but not limited to:
-
Exam preparation books and study guides
-
Prep courses and workshops
-
Practice exams
-
Licensure testing fees
-
Other approved exam-related resources
-

This stipend is available to CBSW members seeking licensure at any level, including LMSW, LCSW, and LAPSW. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to individuals who can provide a clear study plan and timeline for preparing for and taking the licensure examination.
Important Dates
Application Deadline: July 31
Funds Distributed: During the month of August

The stipend is intended to offset a portion of licensure preparation costs and is not intended to cover all exam-related expenses.

Recipients will be asked to provide a brief follow-up update after receiving the stipend, including whether they were able to take the exam and the outcome of their licensure effort. This information will help CBSW evaluate the impact of the program and continue supporting future social workers on their licensure journey.
We encourage eligible members to apply and take the next step toward achieving their professional licensure goals.
