CALL FOR PROPOSALS for 2027 is now open!   

“RECLAIMING BLACK JOY!”    |     3/5/27     |     Nashville, TN

 

The CBSW is excited to announce the 7th Annual CBSW Conference.  The conference will take place in Nashville, TN on 3/5/27, with pre-conference activities taking place on 3/4/27. This year’s theme is: “RECLAIMING BLACK JOY!” Consider building your professional network and influence by submitting a proposal for the conference! We are looking for creative topics that are driven by data, that impact the Black community, and that relate to the theme. Due to the high number of proposals we receive, we encourage individuals to present together. Professionals and students are encouraged to submit proposals.

​Please note that our committee utilizes a blind-peer review process by which to assess proposals. This means all identifying information will be removed from your proposal for a review.

 

Proposals will be accepted in the following formats: 
  • Interactive Workshop (individual)

  • Panel Workshop (2-4 people) 

  • Poster Presentation (create and bring your own poster to display and present)

  • *Given the limited number of available presentation spots, we highly encourage team presentations!

Proposal criteria:  (Please gather all of this information prior to accessing the Proposal Link). The Proposals will be submitted via a Google Document. 
  1. Name, Credentials, Contact Info for each presenter 

  2. Presentation Format:  Workshop, Panel, Poster 

  3. Presentation Theme:  (Clinical, Macro, Leadership, Ethics, Well-being )  

  4. Title of presentation:  15 words or less 

  5. Abstract (brief summary of your proposal, which will be used in the conference materials):  100 words or less 

  6. Three Objectives for your presentation 

  7. Written Proposals: Proposals should be 1,000 words or less OR a 3 minute audio recording. Poster Proposals: Poster proposals should be 500 words or less OR a 2 minute audio recording.Proposals should include the following information: 

    • Define the issue 

    • Identify the population affected 

    • Explain its significance to the Black community 

    • Present innovative ideas or solutions 

    • Alignment with the conference theme 

  8. Reflect on your personal or professional connection to this topic. Why does this matter to you? What is your experience with this topic?

Proposals are due on August 31, 2026 by 11:59PM CST.  Proposal decisions will be communicated via email to the primary presenter no later than September 30. If your proposal is accepted, presenters will need to sign a letter of intent and send a headshot and bio no later than October 15.
